"The Future of Northeast Asia"
The Asian Miracle economies, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore share common features that illuminate China's future prospects. All have their roots in terrible fears of national collapse or defeat that leads to an obsession with economic growth. Once they achieve success and fear dissipates, they risk stagnation, like Japan, unless they upgrade to very open, competitive economies and also competitive politics, as South Korea and Taiwan did. China is at the moment of decision. |
